Robert Rutledge is active in the communities of art and design. Trained as an artist, art historian and architect when young, his work has evolved to a later life focus specifically on men’s roles in art and society. His depictions of interior spaces and architecture are inspired by dreams, many of which have been interpreted through his personal experience of Freudian psychoanalysis. He finds inspiration in the work of great Baroque painters, both in the use of religious imagery to portray strong human emotion and the dramatic use of space and interrelated human forms. Modern dance is another strong influence, specifically the way the body moves through interior space.

He lives and works in Dallas, Texas.
